Court Confirms Suspension of Sofia Mayor

SOFIA, May 12 (bnn)--Sofia Mayor Stefan Sofiyanski (right) speaks to reporters Wednesday after a court confirmed his suspension from office for an abuse of powers probe. The suspension may force early mayoral elections in the capital if it lasts for more than three months.

SOFIA (bnn)- The Sofia Court of Appellations on Wednesday confirmed a lower court ruling to suspend Sofia Mayor Stefan Sofiyanski so that he stands a probe of abuse of office in a deal with municipal property, state radio said.
